Valetine's Day? What is it actually ?
14th Feb is Being Celebrated all over the day as a day of Romance and Love , in some areas it is also celebrated as a cultural and Religious occasion, This is the occasion that even Muslims , Hindus and many cultures celebrate by sharing chocolates, flowers, Love cards, gifts and Dates in the name of Saint Valentine, but everyone should know what this actually is?
It is Stated that About 62% of Americans Celebrate Valentines Day At least. and this is considered as the 3rd Most Celebrated occasion in the western world after New Year and Christmas.
Valentine's Day is also called as Saint Valentine's Day or Feast of Saint Valentine, as many western Christians celebrate It as a religious Festival in the memory of One or two or even sometimes considered three saints called as Valenti-nus. what were they ? They were actually Saints or Priests that served Rome in the Third Century , that's Why it is said that Valentine's Day contains Vestiges of both Christian and Romanian Culture.
they are all stories and No actual Proof has been found but what happened was that
"In third Century There was an emperor inside Rome named as Claudius-II , he used to say that Men Made better soldiers than those with wives and families and That's why he Banned Marriages and love making in that century but Saint Valentine Denied it and continued to perform love marriages and affairs in secret, as soon as Claudius Came to know about Valentine's Act , he was sentenced to death "
the History behind Valentine is so blurry that it contains at least 50 legend behind it, even one of them states that
Saint Valentine Used to Free Prisoners from Harsh Jails of Rome in which they were beaten and tortured, in the meantime Saint valentine actually fell in love with the blind daughter of his jailer/Judge name as Julia ,she used to bring a flower to meet him on regular basis ,When he was caught helping the prisoners , he was sentenced to death and before his death he Sent her a lover letter with the Heading of "From Your Valentine"
but both the stories and their relation with Love has not been truly understood till now, Even Some Stories Suggest a Festival called as Festival of Pagan used to be celebrated in Rome, in which They Used to Sacrifice Goat for Fertility and Dog for purification and They Used to Tie Goat's Hide into strips and dip them into Sacrificial blood and coat the streets and Gently slap women with that and even women appreciated that considering that this will make them more fertile, that also used to be the reason behind Valentines Day celebration.
CUPID
Have you even seen a Naked cherub launching arrows Crossing the heart , that I Guess we have seen a lot in Valentine's Card, that Is called CUPID and he was considered as God of Love at that time and maybe even now.
in 18th Century it became a Trend to celebrate 14th feb as a day of love and 19th century the trend of Gifts and cards came into place causing the trend To continue Till now.
LUPERCALIA
Even an event called as Event of Lupercalia, celebrated in Rome, It was an ancient Roman Festival celebrated between 13-15 Feb annually and is celebrated to Avert evil spirits and to release love and fertility among people, even some authors mention that in this Festival a Lucky draw of unmarried women used to take place and whoever was chosen had to make Extra-martial affairs for whole year with that guy, and its also heard that In that Time Saint Valentine stopped the trend and Started the trend of marriage in that time but There is no such proof of this legend. The real relation between this festival and Valentine is not clear but many authors believe it so
Even after Learning all this stuff Valentine's Day , it has become a source of bushiness all over the world in the Selling of
-Chocolates

even an Article was recently published in Dawn News that The Sellers just suddenly increased Flower prices the day before Valentines Day to increase their income.
Unfortunately the stats say that The Valentines day is known to increase the Sex rate by 62% at that day and out of which 48% of its increase is in un-married couples.
Even Many Religions Prohibit Doing stuff that Resembles the Cultures of Other Religions including Islam, Many people don't take it seriously and Many more think of it as just an occasion and a reminder to show their love to loved ones, which one are you?? we would love to know in the comments section
A Saudi Arabian Cleric Called Valentine's Day as a positive Social Event rather than linking it to religion, The Agricultural University of Faisalabad will Celebrate this Day as Sister's Day it all depends upon The way you take it.
