Hello Everyone Hope You Guys are Doing Great👌
Have you guys ever Wondered Why Sugar is the most consumed ingredient throughout the World? Or Why It feels So rewarding When We eat something sweet or Did You have the same hunger pangs while watching A Dessert , I Guess We all have been there😅
What Actually Happens is when we take sugar or Anything related to Sugar Related Content It Stimulates Our Certain Brain Neurotransmitters Called As Dopamine , Don't get confused These are the same compounds that Get raised in our Bodies When We feel Happy or Feel Rewarded so ,now You know Why we all love Sugars right?
This Dopamine Is not only Stimulated by Sugar but by a lot of Stuff we do in Our daily life and Certain Stuff is Maintained by it like
- Falling in Love
- Enjoying time Friends and family
- Sexual Intercourse
- Getting Audience Applauds etc
Certain Drugs are also known to Stimulate Brain's Rewarding Centres such As
- Heroin
- Cocaine
- Marijuana
- Benzos etc
So Thinking it like that , If Sugar Stimulates Our Brain's Rewards centre and So Do Certain Drugs So Isn't It Easy for Brain to Become Addicted to Sugar Right??
In 1950s A Term was coined as "The Food Addiction" that Explained Why people Consumed Enormous Amount of Food and how easily it became An Addiction and In terms of Sugar it is considered by many people as Addictive but in terms of Researches Mixed Results have been identified
A Recent Research was conducted in 2019 on Seven Göttingen Mini pigs that were Monitored by PET scan imaging and They were Given Sucrose and Sugar Solution 1h for 12 Straight days and Results were found as
The Opioid System ( The Area of Brain that deals with Pleasure and Well-Being) was Stimulated Right from The 1st day of intake and the Brain centres that were Majorly Stimulated were as
- • Straitum
- • Thalamus
- • Nucleus Accumbens
- • Cingulate Gyrus
- • Amygdala
- And Pre Frontal cortex
And After 12 Days of Consuming The Addictive Centres of Brain shown to Become Stimulated and Now we can Consider that if 12 days of Intake of Sugar can alter Brain's Behaviour As we Seen in those pigs , What it would Do to our Body??
Previous Studies were conducted on Rats that Also Shown Increased Dopamine rush when taken Enough Amounts of Sugar , It will be Really good if this Study is being conducted on Humans but What happens is
Human's Dopamine Rush is really variable is Directly influenced by Outside effects and Emotions
So What Should We Do? Take Medications ? Of course Not We Just have to identify that Weather We are Diabetic or not?
There Are Certain Ways to Reduce Blood Sugars also Without Taking medications That I've Already Mentioned.
And The Best way is to Reduce the amount of Added Sugar in our Daily Routine.
What is Added Sugar?
World Health Organization In Early 90s used to advise to take sugar 10% of Daily Caloric Requirements but after Advance Researches they have Advised to reduce it to 5% of Daily Caloric Requirements. So What is Added Sugar that is when you Take more sugar than What is Advised you to take.
Or in a scientific Way If your BMI is less than 25 kg/m2 you can consume up to 25grams or 6Teaspoons of sugar a day and if your BMI is more You would have to Reduce it to even less.
In my personal Experiences to the Trait I belong , My family has a tendency to gain weight Urgently and What I found out If someone just Cuts off only the added sugars like Carbonated Drinks and Extra Tea and Take Enough Amount of Extra Water You'll be good to go with once a week Cheat day won't hurt.
Stay healthy, Stay Fit And Keep Looking through the Bare window
Anything You want to add Will be appreciated in the Comments Section (:
