Hello Everyone Hope You Guys are doing well, If you’ve visited this Blog it means You are interested in pursuing your career via MRCP Route and I am glad you're to see you here as well, This is Barewindow.com and via this Platform, I Communicate with people trying to make things simple for them

So Before Starting The Guidance To MRCP Part 1, You need to know that This route is Slower than the PLAB route, as the PLAB route Grants you early access to UK training compared to this route and it might take more effort to Clear all three Exams of MRCP working in your local hospital setups compared to Clearing them while working in hospitals in the UK
So If you're willing to leave early and join the UK so PLAB route will be the best for you but if you are willing to do it along with your other job or you're willing to give it a shot then You can Surely opt for this

REQUIREMENTS OF MRCP PART-1

i.                     12 Months Experience in the Field (Housejob is Enough or FY1)

ii.                   Must Have a Degree Recognized by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP)

And that is it, That’s all that is required for you to appear in MRCP-1

FEES OF MRCP PART-1

The fees required for MRCP-1 is 616 Pound Sterling for International candidates and 460 pound Sterling for Local UK graduates. Till October 2022.

TIME REQUIRED FOR STUDY:

The Minimum Time Required for Study is 4 months, yes you can pass it within a month I agree but on average and for good depth of knowledge you need at least 4-6 months if you're doing a job along with it, for guys who are not doing any job you’ll still need 3 months to prepare for it.

BOOKS RECOMMENDED FOR MRCP-1

There are certain sources you can utilize for MRCP as book form, but as a Dr, you need to be well aware that Guidelines do change on regular basis, and as RCP is very keen on changing answers according to their guidelines, so I’ll highly recommend you to prefer ONLINE sources over Physical Sources.

THE BOOKS YOU MAY REQUIRE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

            i.              PassMedicine Q Bank
ii.             Pass test Q Bank
iii.           On-Examination Q bank
iv.           EL-Maghraby Step-up to MRCP (Theory)
v.             Notes and Notes for MRCP (Theory)
vi.           Suda Medica for MRCP (Not Recommended)
vii.          Philip A. Kalra for MRCP (Theory)

HOW TO UTILIZE AND WHICH BOOKS TO CHOOSE

You need to learn that You don’t have to Do all the Above Mentioned Books, and It would be impossible for you to Clear them in a limited amount of Time, What is Highly Recommended is to use (2 Q Banks + 1 Theory Book).  What I Used was

PassMedicine + On Examination Series + El Maghraby Notes”

Why is that so? Because the Pass test is considered a bit more difficult than other Q banks and it is more Recommended for MRCP-2 compared to Part 1, You can Always shuffle between Q banks, and It's always what you’re comfortable with. But Prime focus on This MRCP-1 Examination should be on PassMedicine.

It is also said that Many people have Passed MRCP-1 Just By Doing PassMedicine, Indeed it might be true because those People have their Core Knowledge of Basic Concepts very Strong.

WHAT IF MY CORE KNOWLEDGE IS VERY POOR?

Yes It's very True this can happen and That’s the whole point of opting for this exam to not only clear it but to Increase your knowledge as well, in those scenarios you can always add DAVIDSON PRINCIPLES OF MEDICINE but then you have to be very selective, you would still stick to PASSMEDICINE and its explanations but In case you’re stuck with any topic and you’re unable to understand that then only you can use Davidson to increase your knowledge towards that specific topic

IS ONE READ ENOUGH?

No, it's not! Bear that in mind! Do it slowly and Digest every single aspect of it, even if you're getting a good percentage and Answers most of them right, do Read Explanations like a hawk because it can trip you up at any moment, what's recommended to Read PassMedicine at least 3 times but if you’re combining with another Q bank then you can take a risk with two Reads as well with also a revision from Above Mentioned Theory Book.

DOES PAST QUESTION COME IN EXAM?

They Generally Don’t, Yeah Q banks are all Pastpapers but Questions are not the same, there is always some change in it, so be Very Aware of this Trap, the point of reading Q banks is not to cram all the answers, the point to extract all the knowledge so that you can utilize it in your real life.

WHAT ARE THE PASSING MARKS?

The Passing Marks for this Exam are 545/1000 means its 54.5% combined in both Papers, its Generally Customary that Some Regions come more difficult than others but No need to worry, even if your Paper1 goes rough stick with your guts and Try to Get maximum in Paper 2

WHAT IS THE TIME ALLOWED?

The Time allowed will be 180 Minutes/100 Questions means you’ll be given 3 hours Each for Both Papers but I assure you these will pass very rapidly so be aware of that

EXTRA TIPS?

If you’re a candidate of Pakistan, I’ll highly recommend you get those PROTEIN BARS, WATER BOTTLES AND SNACKS with you because they don’t provide you anything :D you can always go into hypoglycemia :D
